Dr. Agnes Kim, a native of Korea, began her early musical training under the guidance of her mother. A gifted pianist from a young age, she won numerous competitions and, at the age of 12 in 1981, performed with the Korye Symphony Orchestra at the National Theatre of Korea.

After moving to the United States with her family in 1983, Dr. Kim was awarded a full scholarship to continue her studies at the School of Performing Arts (now known as the Colburn School) in Los Angeles. Her performances there earned critical recognition and were broadcast on a classical radio station.

Dr. Kim was later accepted into the USC School of Music, where she earned her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degrees in Piano Performance. Her principal piano teachers included James Bonn and Kevin Fitz-Gerald, and she studied harpsichord as a minor instrument with Malcolm Hamilton.
